The biggest couch by the fire is occupied.

The person sprawling there is wearing a purple velvet dress with short puffed sleeves and a long, heavy skirt. A rather attractive pair of feet, in sheer black stockings, are crossed at the ankle and propped up on one arm of the couch; the head leaning against the other arm has shoulder-length brown curls streaked with fading green, tucked back behind one ear to reveal a small pearl earring. No makeup. A glass of whiskey in one hand, a small bag of jelly beans in the other, and a pair of black shoes with low wedge heels perched on a couch cushion beside the feet they presumably came off of.

"If you say so," he tries.

"It's the best reason to do anything, isn't it? It's definitely why I dress like this."

"Best reason to do anything is 'cause you're getting paid," Tony says with a sardonic grin.

[gunpowdergelatine]

"Ahhh." A finger lifts. "You do have a point there, my friend. But," leaning forward, voice dropping conspiratorially, "what is money for, if not - fun?"

Promptly: "Food."

[gunpowdergelatine]

A laugh.

"Mm, I've been there." Casually: "I'm dead now, though, so it matters less."

"Oh, another dead guy?"

[gunpowdergelatine]

"What, you know a lot of us or something?"

[smokeandstreets]

"Well, at least one."

[gunpowdergelatine]

"Yeah? And what's he like?"

[smokeandstreets]

Tony considers this.

"Weird," is what he settles on. "And scary."

[gunpowdergelatine]

"Funny thing – me too!"

[smokeandstreets]

"What, you're weird and scary?"

So far he's only seeing one of those things.

"We-ell," he acknowledges, "maybe not so scary these days."

Tony raises his eyebrows.

[gunpowdergelatine]

"What's your name, hon?"

[smokeandstreets]

"Tony. Tony Foster."

[gunpowdergelatine]

"Lately I'm Queenie," he says, picking a jellybean out of the bag and popping it in his mouth.

He chews; swallows.

"But once upon a time," he says with a nostalgic smile, "when I was aliiiive, they called me the Joker."

--Tony's eyes widen.

"You're fucking with me."

Queenie grins.

"Nnnope."

[smokeandstreets]

Tony still looks on the doubtful side.

[gunpowdergelatine]

"That was a long time ago, though." He waves a hand dismissively. "Now I spend my time making hot clothes and having sex for money."

Offering the bag, "Jelly bean?"

[smokeandstreets]

His eyebrows go up.

"Funny thing," sarcastically, "me too."

[gunpowdergelatine]

"No? Okay."

Nom!

"Minus the clothes." He shrugs.

Yeah, not buying the Joker claim.
